Dundee striker Craig Wighton revelling in derby winner
Dundee striker Craig Wighton admits he has been giving his friends from the other side of the city some stick following his famous derby winner.
The 18-year-old thinks he will struggle to better the feeling of his injury-time strike last Monday, which put paid to Dundee United's hopes of avoiding relegation.
But Wighton is now focused on building on his goal in the last two games of the season and beyond.
Wighton said: "My phone was going mad last Monday night. Obviously I have a lot of pals that are Dundee United fans, so I have been giving them a bit of stick. But it's good attention.
"It was a bit of a lucky goal, but to score the winner in a derby, being a Dundee fan, was brilliant. I don't think I will ever experience that feeling again."
Dundee had a comedown on Saturday when they lost 1-0 at home to Hamilton, but they have a quick chance to atone when they host Kilmarnock on Wednesday night.
"Obviously last Monday was massive for everyone at the club, it was a typical derby but with the circumstances that went with it," he said.
"So it was brilliant to get a win obviously for the fans, you saw how much it meant to them.
"Then the Hamilton game was disappointing, it was completely different. The way Hamilton played, we never dealt with it. No excuses, they were the better team.
"Kilmarnock will play with the same style so we need to adapt. Our aim is to finish seventh so we want to get two wins.
"For me, I haven't scored as many goals as I would have liked this season, so these two games give me the chance to get some. I want to kick on and establish myself in the team."
Wighton has scored twice in his last six matches after forcing his way into Paul Hartley's side following a loan spell with Raith Rovers.
"The first half of the season was a frustrating loan spell for me," he said. "I played a few games and then I wasn't playing, then I was back in. So I never really got going.
"Coming back in January I didn't really know what to expect. The strikers here are brilliant and have been scoring goals.
"I thought I'd maybe come back and not play as much, but the manager has been brilliant. He has adapted my position slightly and to be getting games week in, week out has been brilliant."
Kilmarnock boss Lee Clark will snub the chance to spy on play-off rivals Falkirk and Hibernian on Tuesday night after insisting it is more important he gets his team ready for the final.
Alan Stubbs' Leith men host the Bairns on Tuesday night in the first-leg of their semi-final but Clark will not be at Easter Road.
Instead, the Rugby Park manager will be staging an evening training session for his team ahead of Wednesday night's Ladbrokes Premiership trip to Dundee.
But Clark is not worried he will miss out on vital clues which could help his side overcome the winners in next week's two-legged final.
Killie's 23-year run in the top flight is on the line but the former Huddersfield, Birmingham and Blackpool boss will send scouts to cover the match will he focuses on his own team's preparations.
He said: "We're training tonight so I won't be at Easter Road but we will have our scouts there and I'll catch some of it on TV. I'll also be at Falkirk on Friday for the second leg.
"But we change nothing. Our training schedule is a night session for the game tomorrow night. These last two league games are crucial for me in the build-up to the play-offs and to not be at the training ground would be remiss of me.
"Ultimately it's about us and we have to deliver performances.
"I've seen both teams already and have got the utmost respect for them. Whoever we get we'll be in for a tough couple of games.
"I've got no preference for who we play. Whoever wins it will have done well but I feel confident we can play against any team."
