James Vincent insists there is no fear factor at Dundee despite lowly status
Dundee midfielder James Vincent claims there is no fear factor among his squad despite their place at the bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership.
Paul Hartley's side fell back to the foot of the table thanks to Rangers midfielder Harry Forrester's stoppage-time header at Ibrox last weekend.
But previous to that Dundee recorded two consecutive wins and they could even jump into the top half if they beat Inverness at Dens Park on Saturday and two other results go their way.
Vincent has shaken off early-season injury problems to take his place in a more settled Dundee team in recent weeks and he feels they can keep improving.
"We have had our bad patch and, we are at the bottom, but we are still in the pack," the Englishman said. "I think we have had our bad patch so there is no fear factor from our point of view.
"We have been pleased with the way we have been performing recently, getting points and kicking on. Confidence is high. I don't think other teams have necessarily had their bad patch yet and we have so hopefully this is our time to kick on up the table."
Vincent and his team-mates decided to shut out the league table given its volatility.
The former Inverness player added: "I've never seen it so tight so late on. A little bit of consistency and you will find yourselves in the top half. With a little bit of luck at the weekend, you never know.
"From the last month or so we just said, regardless of the table, regardless of what other teams do, we found ourselves in a position where we just need to look after ourselves, we need to focus on our game, take it game by game, and the table will be what it will be.
"Hopefully, if we keep doing what we have been doing, we will be higher up."
Inverness striker Alex Fisher feels his happiness at the club will get the best out of him.
Fisher this week extended his contract until the end of the season after impressing manager Richie Foran.
The 26-year-old arrived at the club in January but only made three appearances before an ankle injury ended his campaign. However, he has worked hard to establish himself this season and scored a late equaliser against Celtic.
The former Torquay player, who aims to line up at Dens Park on Saturday, said: "It's nice to have the extra security until the end of the season. I feel like I've worked hard and I feel like it's just reward for the effort I've put in.
"I've now got a real good chance to stake a claim for a regular first-team starting place.
"Every player wants to play as much as they can. Usually if you're playing and performing you get rewarded with longer-term deals. I've now got a chance to really try and achieve that.
"I love the area, I like the team. I've got a very good relationship with the manager, probably the best I've had, and it all comes together and makes me feel very comfortable as an individual.
"When a player is comfortable I think it gets the best out of them, and I feel that's what's happening to me."
