Hartley eyes return to winning ways

Dundee manager Paul Hartley has challenged his side to get back to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership ahead of Saturday's visit of Inverness to Dens Park.

The Dark Blues have suffered three straight defeats since securing their place in the top-six recently with the latest coming last Friday night when they went down 5-0 away to Celtic.

Dundee have made a successful return to the top division this season but their boss doesn't want their losing streak to continue between now and the end of the season.

Hartley said: "We want to start winning again.

"The results haven't been all that pleasing in recent weeks so we obviously want to change that.

"We would like to get some wins under our belt but we know it will be tough.

"Inverness are a very good side and have had a great season.

"They are coming here looking to secure third place in the league but it's our job to try and stop that.

"We will approach it like we do every game to try and win it.

"Hopefully we can give our fans something to cheer about because they deserve it for the support they have given us all season."

Dundee were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat by Celtic and Hartley believes Inverness coming to Tayside can act as the ideal fixture to get them going again.

He said: "The lads have trained well all week.

"They were disappointed with certain bits of our last game.

"But the great thing is we have another game to look forward to against good opposition.

"It should be an open match. They have some talented players and so do we so hopefully this brings out the best in our guys.

"Nobody likes the season just to fizzle out and we don't.

"We have three games left and if we can get a win in this one it could set us up well for what's after that."

Meanwhile, Greg Stewart returns from suspension to lead the line for Dundee on Saturday. But keeper Scott Bain is struggling with a knee injury so could be replaced by Kyle Letheren.

The rest of the Scottish Premiership may have been surprised by Inverness' incredible season but not the Caley Thistle players, winger Danny Williams claims.

The Wigan-born wideman, who scored his third goal of the season against Dundee United, insists the Highlanders always aimed to make a big impact.

The William Hill Scottish Cup finalists can tee up a memorable end to the campaign by clinching a first ever Europa League slot if they beat Dundee at Dens Park on Saturday.

Williams said: "What we have achieved this year is massive. I don't think anybody at the start of the season would have expected us to be where we are.

"But that was our aim. We wanted to overtake the likes of Aberdeen and Dundee United and get as far as we could in the league and the cups.

"We've come very close in these last few seasons and now we've made huge strides.

"The lads have all stuck together and shown great belief to get as far up the league as we can.

"The season isn't over yet. We've got another game to play against Dundee but we can't get too carried away with the final.

"This is the biggest game of the season for us on Saturday and we want to cement that third place."
