Dfc Prominent strikers
Firstly i suppose people who saw the early 70's teams were a bit spoilt, first in the line was,
Gordon Wallace who went down in dee folklore as he swiveled and turned to lash the ball past the celtic keeper to win the league cup on the day of miserable weather, scored many many goals for the dee,
Jock Scott, another with a big goal tally but there was alot more than just scoring to Jockys game, surely there hasnt been a better sight than Jocky pelting forward with the ball with shirt cuffs firmly grasped in his hands.
John Duncan who along with the afore mentioned terrorised more than a few defences before heading south to Spurs where he had a great career.
moving on to the end of that decade and we saw Eric Sinclair propably the best shielder of a ball that i have seen alongside Graham Harvey who later came on the scene.
Bobby Huchinson was another who could score alot of goals but was obviously over shadowed slightly by Billy Pirie who had an absolute brilliant goal tally for the dees, the fact the fans nicknamed him king
billy speaks for its self.
enter now Ray Stephen who moved onto France after a sucessful spell with the dees, bomber Harris ws on the scene soon after and proved his worth, billy dodds record for us speaks for itself also, iain ferguson had a few spells at dens bursting the net on many occasions.Eddie the eagle gallacher had an absolute br4illiant goal to games played tally for us.
the cobra and the mongoose were also forming a most lethal partnership although neither would say who was the mongoose it was widely speculated it was kieth wright with tommy coyne being the cobra, coyne infact just missed out on the boot to a turk who pipped him in the goals scored charts.we also had jim hamiliton and george shaw and gerry britton who all had good goal tallys, the poor defenders never quite knew how to read the man of rubber britton ...to be continued
