Butcher looks to fringe Caley stars
Inverness manager Terry Butcher has challenged his fringe players to make an impact amid an early-season selection problem.[LNB] Summer signing Gil Blumenshtein was ruled out for four weeks with a calf injury ahead of Sunday's Scottish Premier League clash at Dundee United.[LNB]Butcher also has club captain Richie Foran out with a knee injury while Chris Innes is suspended.[LNB]The former Motherwell boss said: "Gil's injury is one we could have have done without, as well as Richie Foran out and Chris Innes suspended, so straight away we're three first-team players down and with our squad that's quite a significant impact.[LNB]"We're nearly down to the bare bones with the three players out but we'll just need to get on with it, we knew we would have little knocks and niggles throughout the season.[LNB]"It's a very competitive and tough league so you've got to run yourself into the ground and go into every challenge wholeheartedly so there's going to be a time when injuries play an impact on the season.[LNB]"But we have good alternatives, every player we have can play in different positions and that's something we'll have to utilise throughout the campaign starting on Sunday.[LNB]"Everyone is now desperate to be in the team and it adds a bit of spice to training, especially with some injuries and suspensions in the side."[LNB]United are looking to bounce back from their 1-0 home defeat by AEK Athens in the first leg of their Europa League play-off on Thursday and winger Craig Conway admits they have to do better at Tannadice.[LNB]Conway said: "It will be a tough game but we have to start winning at home.[LNB]"We have to make Tannadice a fortress because we weren't great at times here last year."
