Thompson was furious with the Scottish Football Association over the handling of their negotiations with Levein and the compensation United were due as a result of him quitting Tannadice.[LNB]But the United supremo had strong words for the SFA in the lead up to Levein's appointment, but he is now happy with his relations with SFA chief executive Gordon Smith and president George Peat.[LNB]Thompson told BBC Scotland: "There's no war any more.[LNB]"I have spoken to Gordon Smith and George Peat and it's sorted. A few things got blown out of proportion.[LNB]"I just got frustrated with the process and at losing our best manager since Jim McLean."[LNB]United were due a reported £250,000 in compensation as part of Levein's contract and Thompson had been frustrated by arrangements between his club and the SFA.[LNB]But he said on Saturday: "It is 100% sorted. We are quite happy."[LNB]Meanwhile, Thompson reiterated his intention not to rush into appointing a replacement for Levein.[LNB]The new Scotland manager's assistant, Peter Houston, has been appointed caretaker, and Levein is hopeful his long-time lieutenant can join him in the national set-up on a part-time basis.[LNB]Thompson would not be drawn on whether Houston would win the job should the side perform during his time in charge.[LNB]"There will be no quick decisions," he said.[LNB]"We will take our time and see how things go.[LNB]"Peter is more than capable of putting together a team.[LNB]"I have had quite a few agents and quite a few people have applied for the job.[LNB]"But I will take my time to reflect on things."[LNB]Levein revamped United's youth system and moved their training base to St Andrews University but Thompson did not think there was a danger the improvements he oversaw would be lost.[LNB]"The youth set-up will be here for years to come and we have a 10-year lease for the training facilities," said the chairman.[LNB]Thompson added he would "not be taking any risks" with his choice of replacement for Levein.[LNB][LNB]
