Dundee United have confirmed the signing of former Ajax defender Timothy Van der Meulen on a short-term contract.
The 20-year-old joins until the end of the season, subject to international clearance, following a successful trial.
United manager Peter Houston said: "I am delighted to have secured the signing of Timothy. He has impressed me in training and he has shown me that he is a good footballer."
He added: "I see him as one for the future but also believe he can step into the first team in the near future if required.
"The length of the deal gives us a chance to see Timothy play in a few games before committing to a long-term deal."
