Levein must face SFA committee

30 April 2009 16:11
Levein will attend the Scottish Football Association's general purposes committee in June after claiming Jambos players "conned" referee Eddie Smith during the Scottish Premier League clash at Tannadice. It is not the first time Levein has landed himself in hot water over controversial remarks he has made. In 2003, he was fined £1,000 for comments made about referee Dougie McDonald and last season he was docked £5,000 for criticising referee Mike McCurry. Meanwhile, Levein has refused to comment on reports Huddersfield striker Danny Cadamarteri is set to sign a pre-contract deal with United in the next few days. Cadamarteri, a former England Under-21 international, is out of contract at the end of the season. Levein has previously distanced himself from reports linking the club with the 29-year-old player, despite watching him play against Carlisle recently. United need a new frontman after striker Jon Daly was ruled out for a year with a cruciate ligament injury. Levein signed Cadamarteri during his time in charge at Leicester, which came after the player had served a six-month ban from the game after failing a drugs test. Cadamarteri, who has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, has scored just twice in 33 appearances for League One Huddersfield side this season.
