Houston: No problem facing Hoops

19 February 2010 14:53
United are prepared for a step into the unknown, coming up against the likes of Robbie Keane, Diomansy Kamara and Edson Braafheid for the first time in the SPL on Saturday.[LNB]But Houston has told them to simply focus on their own performance because that is the best way they can secure victory.[LNB]The United manager has already vowed to attack Tony Mowbray's team, so is not getting too hung up on the opposition, although he knows good defending will be crucial to his side's chances.[LNB]He said: "Celtic have added a lot of new faces since the last time we played them.[LNB]"But I don't look into the opposition too much; it's about how we approach the game.[LNB]"We know we're capable of getting a result if we do the jobs we've all got.[LNB]"Playing the Old Firm away from home is always the same; you know they will put you under pressure at times and you've got to stand up to that.[LNB]"And the other side of that is when you get chances, you must make them count.[LNB]"But these lads have scored goals there before and we've come back from 2-0 down in the not-too-distant past.[LNB]"So there's no fear factor for them. It doesn't worry me going there because I know if we play to our capabilities, we'll be okay."[LNB]United go to Glasgow knowing if they secure a victory, it could go a long way to winning a place in Europe for next season.[LNB]But Houston insists there will be no added pressure during the 90 minutes.[LNB]He said: "There's no more pressure on us in this game than there is in any other.[LNB]"A game is a game, you prepare for it and psyche yourself up for it.[LNB]"The way I look at this is it's no different to playing St Mirren last weekend. There's three points there to be won and that's what we're aiming to do.[LNB]"The players here put pressure on themselves, they've set standards and want to achieve them every week.[LNB]"We have more points now than we did this time last season and that's because the lads have pushed themselves to do that."[LNB]United have been boosted by the return to fitness of Andy Webster and Mihael Kovacevic, although David Goodwillie could miss out with a stomach complaint.[LNB]Webster, who is in contention for a return to the Scotland squad on Monday, has been missing for four games with a calf problem but has been passed fit and will anchor the defence.[LNB]Houston said: "David Goodwillie is a bit sore in his stomach area, so he's doubtful for the Celtic game.[LNB]"But the good news is that Andy Webster and Mihael Kovacevic are back.[LNB]"Webby is a big game player for us and a good influence on the team.[LNB]"He's got his confidence back from playing regularly so we're delighted he's available again."[LNB][LNB] Celtic v Dundee Utd.
