Dundee United manager Peter Houston praised his side for the explosive start that fired them to a 3-1 win over Aberdeen.their explosive start to the match which had Aberdeen reeling.
United found the net three times in the opening 10 minutes, with Jon Daly's strike and David Goodwillie's penalty coming either side of an own goal from Dons keeper Mark Howard
"It was a dramatic start and we could have been a goal or two down before we took the lead," said Houston. "I stressed before the game that in our league matches we have always given the other team a start by letting them score. We worked on that this week and it paid off.
"No team should come back from going three goals down at Tannadice with the squad that I've got. Aberdeen got a goal back but in the second half I felt we coped with everything and actually created more of the chances."
Houston reserved praise for defender Scott Severin, who strolled through his United debut against his former club.
He added: "I thought Scott was immense and as he gets to know the players better he will become even better. I know him well and he will be a big influence on and off the park for the younger players in the team. "
