Dundee United striker David Goodwillie has been named Cheque Centre PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year. Goodwillie emerged from a shortlist featuring Celtic striker Gary Hooper, Hearts winger David Templeton and Aberdeen forward Chris Maguire to claim the award from his fellow professionals. The 22-year-old, who has scored 18 goals so far this season, said: "I was actually surprised because I thought Hooper would have got it. He's an exceptional player and he is one that I look up to. "It means everything, I felt I have had a good season and it's good to know other people have noticed that, including the players. "I will probably go and phone my mum now and tell her I've won. She will be really proud."
