Goodwillie in the dark over ref error

Dundee United striker David Goodwillie admitted he was oblivious to referee Brian Winter's failure to send off Steven Anderson in his side's 1-0 win over Tayside rivals St Johnstone. Winter appeared to show two yellow cards to defender Anderson for separate challenges on Goodwillie. However the referee did not show Anderson a red card following his second yellow and the Saints player stayed on the pitch until full time. Goodwillie said: "I didn't think he had been booked for the first one. I never saw it as I was lying on the deck after the challenge. I thought perhaps the referee had meant to book him but forgot because of all the commotion afterwards. He may have been booked twice but I suppose I will have to wait to see it on the telly." The 21-year-old was delighted to score the winning goal in the Tayside derby to give his side their second win of the season. "We needed that win," he said. "St Johnstone don't hold back. They are a big, physical team and they made it difficult for us. We didn't play spectacular football but I don't think St Johnstone let you play good football as they are always in your face. "It was an important three points, especially with the match coming so soon after being taken to extra time at Ross County. The last thing we needed was extra time with a game on the Saturday but the boys are fit and they overcame it."
