Flood warning news to Levein

Levein is keen to retain the services of the Cardiff City player, who has been on loan at Tannadice both this season and last but reports suggest he now faces competition from Celtic.[LNB]Hoops boss Gordon Strachan side-stepped the question in a radio interview after his side's win over Hibernian on Saturday and Levein confessed he had no answers either.[LNB]Speaking after a thrilling 3-2 SPL win over St Mirren, he said: "I haven't heard a word from anybody about Willo Flood. Cardiff haven't been in touch with us and Celtic haven't been in touch with us.[LNB]"But you have to remember in this situation that we aren't even in the loop. If Celtic want Willo Flood, they go to Cardiff to get Willo Flood, not us."[LNB]He added: "I desperately want to keep him. But when things are going well and your team is doing well and there are bigger clubs out there with more money, you lose players.[LNB]"I'm maybe ahead of the game here and it might never happen. But I don't know because no-one has to contact me for any reason.[LNB]"I've left the boy alone today because I had an important match to play and it was important to get the three points.[LNB]"If we do lose him, that's too bad because he is a player I desperately want to keep."[LNB]United staged a remarkable late comeback to claim all three points against St Mirren after twice trailing in.[LNB]Saints took a surprise first-half lead through Jack Ross before Warren Feeney converted from the penalty spot after skipper Lee Wilkie was fouled in the box.[LNB]Wilkie then conceded a spot-kick at the other end, allowing Billy Mehmet to restored St Mirren's lead, with the points looking like they were heading for Paisley.[LNB]But two goals in quick succession from Prince Buaben and Feeney in the last 10 minutes saw United snatch victory from their visitors' clutches.[LNB]Levein admits the win was crucial following last week's shock 4-0 home thrashing by Motherwell.[LNB]He said: "I was thrilled by the result and the second-half performance. It was a real test of character after what happened last week.[LNB]"If we hadn't got three points - or at least a point - today then there would have been people asking questions."[LNB]Saints could have had a free-kick on the edge of the box in injury-time when Garry Kenneth appeared to foul Jim Hamilton.[LNB]But Levein pointed out Franco Miranda could also have been dismissed when he conceded the penalty and claimed he was happy with the performance of referee Stevie O'Reilly.[LNB]He said: "You can go through the decisions but I'm not complaining. He is a fairly new referee; he is a young referee.[LNB]"If anyone in Gus' team felt hard-done by today, all I would say is that Wilkie is four yards from goal with a free header and was fouled.[LNB]"But I'm not complaining. I thought the referee refereed the game fairly which, for me, is the most important thing."[LNB]Saints boss Gus MacPherson insisted his players were desperately unlucky to leave Tannadice empty-handed.[LNB]"We should have won the game - it's as simple as that," he said.[LNB]"The game should have been over at half-time with the chances we created and the manner of the performance.[LNB]"We passed the ball well, we worked hard as a unit, created opportunities and should have taken more of them.[LNB]"If we had done that, we would have won the game quite comfortably. But we didn't."[LNB][LNB]
