Fenlon saddened by United collapse

The Bohemians boss looked all set to swap his role with the Dublin outfit for the post of leading the Terrors in the Scottish Premier League following Craig Levein's appointment as Scotland manager.

But his hopes were dashed when the two clubs were unable to settle on a compensation package for his services and the Tannadice outfit are now looking at alternative candidates.

Fenlon, who had travelled to Dundee to hold talks with United's hierarchy over the role, insists he now remains committed to Bohemians.

He told the Daily Record: "I was very interested in the Dundee United job but it had to be right for all parties and unfortunately that wasn't the case.

"I have always enjoyed working with Bohs and will get on with my job.

"While I didn't seek to leave Bohs, it's true that when the opportunity at Dundee United arose I was interested.

"When I went over to Scotland I found United to be a good club. I had a look at all the facilities and was impressed by everything.

"But it is not to be now."
