Edu: We'll be up for the replay

The holders fought back from a goal down to surge into a 3-1 lead at Ibrox on Sunday only to be pegged back to 3-3 by a United team keen to exorcise the memory of a 7-1 thrashing the last time they visited Govan.[LNB]As well as bidding to reach the last four of this tournament, Rangers sit 13 points clear at the top of the SPL and will contest St Mirren for the first silverware of the season in this weekend's Co-operative Insurance Cup final.[LNB]And Edu believes the Scottish Cup setback could act as kick up the backside for Walter Smith's men.[LNB]"I guess you could say this was a wake-up call for us so we will definitely be up for the replay," said the American midfielder.[LNB]"It's a chance for us to go up there and show we deserve to still be in this cup.[LNB]"That's the way football is, you can't take anything lightly. We had a chance to finish off the game but credit to Dundee United, they fought back and clawed their way back into the game and in the end they got something out of it."[LNB]Rangers also needed two attempts to see off both Hamilton and St Mirren in previous rounds and Edu admits they should have done better against United after taking a comfortable lead through two Kris Boyd penalties and a Nacho Novo strike.[LNB]He said: "We had a chance to finish off the game and we are all disappointed we didn't do that. A 3-1 lead is a good position to be in and we felt as though we should have finished off the game.[LNB]"It didn't go our way but we have a chance to bounce back in the replay at Tannadice.[LNB]"We just take it one game at a time, that's the mentality we need to have. Especially with the position we are in, you can't look too far ahead or think too much about the future.[LNB]"You just have to take every game as it comes, that's the mentality we have just now and that's what we are going to stick to."[LNB]United took the lead through substitute Andis Shala before referee Dougie McDonald pointed to the penalty spot twice in nine minutes and Boyd converted on both occasions.[LNB]Novo then appeared to put the tie beyond the Tangerines only for a Steven Whittaker own-goal to haul them back into the game before Mihael Kovacevic netted his first goal for the club to earn a replay.[LNB]Kovacevic believes Rangers were fortunate to even find themselves in the driving seat, insisting: "I think they were a little bit lucky with the two penalties.[LNB]"The first one was not a penalty because the ball changed direction. The second one was soft, it was a bit easy.[LNB]"We are sad about the two penalties after we had scored the first goal. It's not easy for the referee in this big stadium with the crowd like this.[LNB]"I think we have been a little bit unlucky with the referees but it's not only us."[LNB]He sees no reason why United cannot triumph on home territory when both sides do it all again on March 24.[LNB]"We showed character and we never gave up," said Kovacevic.[LNB]"We believed in ourselves and got the second goal and then I scored. We are confident about the replay at home.[LNB]"We have come back from 3-1 down at Ibrox and they know we are a good side. I think they will respect us more."[LNB][LNB] Scottish Cup.
