Dillon keen to come out of cold storage

Dundee United defender Sean Dillon has revealed it is not only him who has gone without a game over the last few weeks. The defender has had family over from Ireland three times in the last month and on each occasion they have had to head back to the Emerald Isle without seeing any action. First his sister-in-law and her husband missed the Rangers game in November when it was called off because of snow and then his own sister and parents saw the games against Motherwell and St Johnstone also fall foul of the weather. The Dillon family were desperate to see their son in action but have now all returned home for Christmas without seeing a minute of football. Dillon, who hopes to finally come out of cold storage against Hamilton on Boxing Day, admits it was frustrating - but was glad to get some unexpected time with his family. He said: "The fixtures being called off has not just affected me because my family have all been over at different times hoping to see some football. My wife's sister was over for the Rangers game on the original Sunday and then missed their flight on the Tuesday. "I went to the airport with her and her fella, got stuck in the snow and it took eight hours to get from Edinburgh to Dundee. My sister was over for the next game but that got cancelled and my mum and dad were here for the St Johnstone game and that was cancelled too. "They couldn't stay until the Rangers game because they had to go home to Ireland on Monday morning - but that got called off anyway. So it's been frustrating for them because they've wanted to see us play but from another point of view the call offs have let me spend time with them that I wouldn't normally have got."
