The striker was told he faced a year on the sidelines after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in April but could be back as early as next month. He said: "I've picked up the rehab now and I'm looking to be back at the end of September or the middle of October at the latest. "It's a lot quicker than expected. When it first happened there was talk of being out for a year so I could be looking at being six months ahead of schedule." However, Daly knows he faces a fight to force his way back into manager Craig Levein's plans, adding: "Even when fully fit, it was always going to be difficult to stay in the team. "We've got a good squad and most players find it hard to stay in the team; they know there are people there waiting in the wings vying for a place."
