Conway full of praise for Flood

Flood's future has dominated the build-up to Wednesday's Co-operative Insurance Cup semi-final between the teams after Celtic approached Cardiff over their on-loan player's future.[LNB]Conway thought Flood would move on to bigger things after his initial 12-month loan spell at Tannadice, so he sees any extra time the 23-year-old spends on Tayside as a bonus.[LNB]"To be honest, I didn't expect him to still be here after last season," Conway said.[LNB]"He had a great season and he stayed on for another year.[LNB]"It's just great that he's here. He's a great player and he's great to have around, so hopefully we can keep him."[LNB]Flood has admitted joining Celtic would be a "dream move" and Cardiff manager Dave Jones claimed on Tuesday that Parkhead counterpart Gordon Strachan had made an approach over the player, whose City contract expires in the summer.[LNB]"Celtic thought Willo was Dundee United's player, so they approached them first," Jones said.[LNB]"Now Gordon has come to us, but no bid has been made."[LNB]United manager Craig Levein was reluctant to speak about Flood's future on the eve of their Hampden showdown but he insisted the issue had not affected their preparations.[LNB]And Conway was adamant that the story would not derail their bid for silverware.[LNB]"If players are playing well then they are going to get linked with moves, and he is not really our player as well," the winger added.[LNB]"So you have to just accept that. It's not affected anybody. Willo has played at massive teams like Man City and he is used to that.[LNB]"As far as he knows, he is playing for Dundee United.[LNB]"He has played for the last two years and he has never showed that anything has bothered him.[LNB]"There will be no change and if anything it will spur him on to show them how good a player he is."[LNB]Levein added: "As far as I'm concerned, he is in the team and he's playing."[LNB][LNB]
