Brown understands Flood link

Brown has been impressed by the 23-year-old so far this season and fully expects Flood to be in top form again when Celtic clash with Dundee United in the semi-final of the Co-operative Insurance Cup.[LNB]That is, of course, if Flood has not already sealed his move to Parkhead by then.[LNB]Cardiff boss Dave Jones has revealed he has been in contact with Celtic boss Gordon Strachan regarding the player, who has been on loan at United since 2007, although no firm offers have been received.[LNB]Tannadice boss Craig Levein has made no secret of his own desire to make Flood's move permanent but is bracing himself to lose out to the Scottish champions.[LNB]Asked whether Flood would be a good buy for the SPL leaders, Brown said: "Yes, Willo has played really well this season.[LNB]"There are other players in the team who have played well too, like Scott Robertson and Lee Wilkie, who has just signed a new contract.[LNB]"There are a lot of other players in the team who you could put forward to us as well."[LNB]Brown is also equally keen to see Stephen McManus remain at Celtic, after the skipper was linked with a move to Newcastle.[LNB]He said: "I'm sure all the players want him to stay and I want him to stay myself.[LNB]"He is a good leader and we enjoy having him around the dressing room.[LNB]"He has playing well and scoring goals as well and that has helped with his confidence."[LNB]Wednesday night's cup clash at Hampden looks set to attract a disappointing crowd but Brown insists a poor atmosphere will not detract from the players doing their job on the pitch.[LNB]"Not in cup games, that's for sure," said Brown.[LNB]"Everyone will give 100 per cent and I'm sure Dundee United will be the same.[LNB]"It doesn't really matter if the stadium is full or not - we are just going out there to win.[LNB]"It will be a very difficult game. Dundee United have proved over the last couple of seasons they are willing to give it a go and play just as well as the Old Firm.[LNB]"They are the hardest team (outside the Old Firm) I've played against this season. They are tall and physical and they have a good manager as well."[LNB]United narrowly lost out to Rangers in last year's dramatic League Cup final and Brown is well aware they will be determined to make amends this time around.[LNB]"They will want to go all the way this year," he said.[LNB]"They have been there and lost the final. I was there with Hibs, lost and then won it two or three years later. I'm sure they will want to do that as well."[LNB][LNB]
