Accies sorry for 'time-wasting' jibe

An Accies official reportedly complained about United's delaying tactics towards the end of their 1-0 victory at New Douglas Park. But MacDonald insists no-one at the club had any issue with the way the visitors approached the second half of the game. He told his club's official website: "I was disturbed to read in Monday's press that an 'HAFC official' had criticised Dundee United for time-wasting during our game on Saturday. "I wish to make it clear that we consider that the game was played in a competitive and sporting manner and we have no complaint on any front. "My fellow directors, secretary and manager are mystified by the identity of the 'spokesperson' and how he managed to address the media. "If it transpires that the individual is an employee of HAFC, he will be subject to disciplinary action. "As a club, we are all thoroughly enjoying our season in the SPL and we apologise to Dundee United FC and the media for this incident." MacDonald's stance is somewhat surprising considering United boss Craig Levein freely admitted time-wasting after the game. "I accept we took our time with some stuff in the second half," said Levein, who accused Hamilton of similar tactics when they met at Tannadice earlier in the campaign. "But we have been on the sharp end of that a few times ourselves this season. "Anyone could put that up as an excuse, but those who watched the game will tell you that we deserved to win anyway, and win quite easily at that. "But I complained about it earlier this season, so if Hamilton want to complain this time, that's fine."
