Fifers` hopes dented by defeat Dumbarton dented East Fife`s hopes of finishing in the Second Division play-off places with an entertaining 4-2 victory at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium. The visitors took the lead in the 27th minute through Robert Linn`s calm finish but Dumbarton levelled matters in the 39th minute when Andrew Geggan nodded Jon McShane`s cross into the roof of the net. McShane put the home side in front in the 51st minute with a fierce strike from long range but Craig Johnstone pulled Fife level 10 minutes later. Mark Gilhaney put Dumbarton in front for the second time in the 68th minute when he coolly slotted into the bottom corner from 12 yards. McShane secured the points in the 77th minute.
