Queens are still kings

Queen of the South maintained their 100 per cent start to the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship with a 2-0 victory at Dumbarton.

Mark Millar missed an early chance for the visitors before goalkeeper Mark Brown saved his next attempt moments later.

Kyle Jacobs, Ryan Conroy and Christopher Higgins failed to test Brown as they did not make the most of a good spell for the Doonhammers.

Scott Taggart and Kevin Cawley had chances for the home side but Queens took the lead ahead of the break. After Dumbarton failed to clear their lines, Iain Russell reacted quickest to give James Fowler's side a 41st-minute lead.

Derek Lyle doubled Queens' advantage after 68 minutes, heading out of the reach of Brown.

Iain Russell squandered a chance to extend the visitors' lead after 71 minutes, while the Sons' Jon Routledge and Gordon Smith failed to test Robbie Thomson on a comfortable day for Fowler's men.
