Wellens extends Rovers stay

Midfielder Richie Wellens has signed a new three-year contract with Doncaster Rovers. The 28-year-old joined Rovers last summer from Oldham Athletic and helped the club gain promotion to the Championship via the play-offs. Wellens told the club's official website: "It's a good club. It's a club that's going places and I was more than happy to add on an extra two years to my current deal. "The way we play football is one of the main reasons I wanted to stay. "The manager is great in getting us to play the way he wants to play, he understands players very well. I'm more than happy here." Meanwhile, Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll has decided not to offer a contract to veteran defender Steven Pressley, who had been on trial at the Keepmoat Stadium.
