Stock nears Rovers return

Doncaster Rovers midfielder Brian Stock could make a return to the first team fold over Christmas following a lengthy injury lay-off.

The 27-year-old has been missing since September after picking up an ankle injury and manager Sean O'Driscoll could bring him into the squad.

Doncaster travel to Coventry on Boxing Day before hosting Leicester City on December 28.

Speaking to BBC Sport, O'Driscoll said: "Doncaster travel to Coventry on Boxing Day before hosting Leicester City."

Meanwhile, the club have made it clear they will try their very best to make prolific striker Billy Sharp's loan move permanent, if the opportunity arises.

Club chairman John Ryan told Doncaster Free Press: "There is not a lot I can say on the subject really other than, as a fan myself, I would love to see him here on a permanent basis.

"All I can say is that we will be doing our best."
