    Rovers switch suits Brooker

    29 Jan 2009 - 07:22:32

Striker Steve Brooker is looking forward to kick-starting his career at Doncaster Rovers after completing his switch to the Keepmoat Stadium from Bristol City.

The 27-year-old, who has penned a two-and-a-half-year deal with Sean O'Driscoll's side, initially joined Rovers on loan at the end of November only to suffer a calf tear after making only one appearance for the Championship strugglers.

He said: "It was frustrating the first time round. I was really excited about coming here and doing well - and that was cut short through my injury.

"I'm just delighted to get that opportunity to come back and get a run going in the form of some games.

"A big part of the decision for me was to come to a club that has ambition and drive and this club has plenty of that.

"It was important for me to go somewhere where there's a good group of players with the team behind it, the directors and everybody all pushing in the same direction.

"Since I came here on loan, me and my old man have been looking at the results and the team have been playing extremely well so, when I do get fit, I may struggle to get into the side.

"As long as the team and the squad are keeping us in this division, that's the main objective."
