Rovers seal record Sharp deal

Doncaster Rovers have wrapped up the club record signing of Sheffield United's Billy Sharp, having paid more than £1million for the striker.

The 24-year-old impressed while on loan at the Keepmoat Stadium last season and has now signed a three-year contract to remain with Rovers.

Manager Sean O'Driscoll told the club's official website: "Everyone knows what a difference Billy's goals made to us last season.

"On top of that he very quickly became an integral and popular member of the squad, always displaying a great attitude and willing to put in a real shift for the good of the team.

"He is one of those characters who is great to have around a football club and he just loves playing football and scoring goals."
