Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll has admitted that his hopes of signing Oldham Athletic striker Lee Hughes are fading.
The 32-year-old has scored 22 goals in 48 games for the Latics, having rebuilt his career after spending time in prison for causing death by dangerous driving.
O'Driscoll told the club's official website: "We haven't made a bid, we've just been enquiring.
"We've not made a bid, we've just talked, but he is available for the right price.
"We've chatted to the player's agent regarding personal terms, as there is no point in agreeing a fee if you can't afford personal terms, so you need all of the information you possibly can."
Rovers are confident, however, of tying up the signing of Bristol City striker Steve Brooker in the next few days.
