Rigoglioso seals Rovers switch

Adriano Rigoglioso has completed his transfer from Morecambe to Doncaster Rovers and cannot wait to experience Football League action.

The attacking midfielder had hoped to secure a move to a League club during the summer, after scoring 12 times during the Shrimps' run to the Nationwide Conference play-offs last season.

However, the Lancashire club were keen to hold on to Rigoglioso until he was sent off for the second time this season, against Shrewsbury Town, prompting them to decide to cash in on him.

"I'm delighted to be here. Throughout the summer, with all the talk, I was hoping it would go through, but I thought Morecambe would keep hold of me and that's what happened," he told the club's official website.

"I've now got the chance and I'm just wanting to get on with the job of getting Rovers up into the Second Division.

"I always said to Morecambe that if any league side came in for me I wanted to be notified and after I heard Doncaster were in for me, there was no other place I wanted to be."

Rigoglioso began his career as a trainee at Liverpool but was released without playing a senior game for the club, and built a reputation in non-league football with Marine before joining Morecambe in July 2000.
