Doncaster Rovers midfielder Jason Price may not play again this year after rupturing his Achilles tendon in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final success against Bristol Rovers.
The 29-year-old, who had only been passed fit just before the match after being sidelined for a month, suffered the injury after an hour of the game.
Rovers won the Millennium Stadium showpiece after a fluctuating match. They threw away a two-goal lead before eventually beating the Pirates 3-2 after extra time.
Goals by Jonathan Forte and Paul Heffernan gave Donny a dream start, but the League Two side hit back to equalise, before Graeme Lee headed home what proved to be the winner.
