    Mills verdict boosts Rovers

    27 Aug 2008 - 13:01:48

Doncaster Rovers have been boosted by the news that defender Matt Mills did not suffer a broken jaw in the 2-0 weekend defeat at Queens Park Rangers.

Rovers had feared that Mills was facing a lengthy spell out of action, but the former Manchester City centre-half has returned to training already.

Assistant manager Richard O'Kelly told the Sheffield Star: "There wasn't any need for an X-ray because the swelling had gone down and he wasn't in any pain.

"Matt did a light training session today and we'll monitor him for the next couple of days, but he looks okay."

Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll had said straight after the loss at Loftus Road: "He's got a suspected fracture of the jaw, so he was taken to hospital for an x-ray.

"Hopefully, the results will show that it was only suspected and he can get a clean bill of health.

"He took a nasty knock and we were worried that it may have been something more serious than a bang to the chin."
