Long lay-off for Heffernan

Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll has admitted that leading scorer Paul Heffernan will be sidelined for longer than was originally anticipated.

Heffernan has not played since last month's victory against Port Vale but a scan has shown that he has ruptured his ankle ligaments.

He is not now expected to return to action until mid-April at the earliest.

Meanwhile, O'Driscoll was unhappy with his side's display in the 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth.

"We were in control until the first goal, when we didn't defend from a throw-in which is one of my pet hates," he lamented.

"Then, the kick-off at the start of the second half was a joke and we gave a stupid goal away. The difference between success and failure in this league is minute, but goals change games."
