Lee's nightmare nears end
28 Dec 2007 - 14:19:17
Doncaster Rovers captain Graeme Lee hopes to be able to return to action early in the new year after enduring an injury-ravaged eight months.
The 29-year-old former Hartlepool United and Sheffield Wednesday star missed the end of the last campaign with an ankle problem and then suffered a neck injury in pre-season training.
When he tried to return to action, Lee sustained a knee injury in training which needed surgery.
"I was a bit low at first after being told that I would be out so long," he admitted.
"But I've had quite a few long-term injuries during my career so I knew what had to be done and I got my head down and got stuck in to my rehabilitation.
"I started doing some straight running at the training ground just before Christmas and I hope to start twisting and turning early in the new year.
"The plan is to be back training with the rest of the lads by the third week of January at the latest.
"It will then be just a case of working towards match fitness and playing a couple of friendlies."
