Friend relishes Rovers move

Doncaster Rovers signing George Friend is hoping that his new club can challenge for promotion from the Championship next season.

The 22-year-old has signed a two-year contract with Rovers, having slipped down the pecking order at Molineux.

Friend told the Sheffield Star: "I always want to be able to play at the highest level that I can.

"I'm looking forward to it. I want to move forward with this club and we have seen from Blackpool that anything is possible in football.

"Doncaster are a nice Championship club and I am happy to be here.

"I wasn't getting many games at Wolves, especially after they got promoted to the Premier League. I hope I can now come here and play some regular games in the Championship."
