Doncaster can do a "Norwich"

Doncaster can go up again too says defender Bongani Khumalo

Rovers defender Bongani Khumalo believes Rovers can emulate Norwich and secure back-to-back promotions to reach the Premier League. The South African international  believes Doncaster can replicate Norwich's promotion success

South Africa international Khumalo, 26, has starred since joining Paul Dickov's side from Tottenham on a season-long loan deal.

The Canaries were promoted to the Premier League in 2011 under Paul Lambert after winning League One the year before.

And Khumalo insists that Doncaster, who were promoted from League One last season, can be a surprise package and make it to the top flight this season.

He said: "I think we can go all the way, this is just the beginning. It is OK to be the underdog, I do not mind that.

"We can be the underdog all season as long as we end up in a good position, whether that be promotion or the play-offs.

"But we are as good as anyone in this league. Promotion is the golden prize. You need to give yourself a chance. If you work hard and do the right things, you are in with a chance.

"Belief is a massive part of it. You do not want to overcook it, just take it one game at a time.

Khumalo is open-minded about switching from Spurs to Doncaster permanently

"The belief is there, it is shown in our work-rate.

"That is the non-negotiable here - the work-rate. Everyone is committed to the cause."

Khumalo, whose side face Bournemouth today, has not ruled out a permanent switch to the Keepmoat Stadium at the end of the season."There is a great bunch of players here and we would like to surprise a few people"

He said: "I am enjoying it here. I am getting to know the players and I just want to get better with every game and help Doncaster as best as I can.

"There is a great bunch of players here and we would like to surprise a few people.

"It is a great challenge that has been put forth.

"I have embraced it and I am very grateful to the club and players for helping me settle in as fast as possible."

Ex-Reading ace Khumalo, who joined Spurs for £1.7m in 2011, has scored one goal in six appearances for Doncaster.
