Coppinger suffers ankle woe

Doncaster Rovers winger James Coppinger is set to be sidelined for several weeks after suffering an ankle injury in the 1-0 defeat at Preston North End.

The 27-year-old former Exeter City star lasted just 16 minutes of the Deepdale reverse, with Rovers still waiting for the problem to settle down.

Club physio John Dickens told the Sheffield Star: "Copps has been in for treatment, but it looks as though he's strained his ankle ligaments.

"We'll let the ankle settle down for a couple of days and see how it goes, but it looks like it could take a week or so or a couple of weeks.

"As I said we are not really sure at this stage and we need to let it settle down. His ankle was a bit sore today, but he was able to walk around with a brace."
