We deserved the points - O'Driscoll
It was the first time Rovers had beaten the Owls at home in eight attempts in a major competition and the winning margin could have been so much wider as Paul Heffernan's 31st-minute effort proved decisive.[LNB]"I thought we worked hard and got what we deserved," O'Driscoll said.[LNB]"In the first half we were sparkling and we could have put the game out of reach.[LNB]"But they stuck an extra man in midfield and came back into it in the second half.[LNB]"We got a bit 'champagne football' at times and you have to be careful because one mis-placed pass in this division and you can be punished.[LNB]"But overall I was pleased with the performance and the result."[LNB]After a blistering first five minutes in which Wednesday looked as if they would overpower their opponents, Doncaster took complete charge of the game.[LNB]Heffernan and James Coppinger both had shots deflected before Heffernan was unlucky to slice a golden opportunity over the crossbar in the 15th minute.[LNB]Coppinger and Ritchie Wellens combined cleverly to set up the chance but the ball seemed to bobble off the bumpy pitch when a goal seemed certain from close range.[LNB]Heffernan snatched at another chance in the 27th minute, allowing Lee Grant a comfortable save but he made no mistake with the all-important goal four minutes later.[LNB]A splendid inter-passing move led to Coppinger crossing from the right and Heffernan pounced to head home in fine style.[LNB]The game was incredibly one-sided in the first half but Doncaster could not add to their score with Grant doing well to parry a terrific 20-yarder from Wellens in the 36th minute before Heffernan fired just over the top four minutes later.[LNB]A goal-bound shot from Heffernan bounced off the legs of Mark Beevers who made a superb last-ditch tackle to prevent Rovers adding to their score early in the second half.[LNB]Martin Woods missed a great opportunity when he fired over the top from point-blank range in the 61st minute after Coppinger and Heffernan had combined to set up the chance.[LNB]It seemed the only danger for Doncaster was complacency and despite all the home side's pressure Wednesday almost snatched an equaliser in the 69th minute when Leon Clarke headed a cross from Jermaine Johnson against the crossbar.[LNB]Clarke hit an overhead kick straight at home goalkeeper Neil Sullivan in injury time but the Wednesday efforts had been few and far between and Doncaster had done more than enough to win the game.[LNB]Owls manager Brian Laws said: "For the first 10 minutes we were composed and passed the ball well - after that we were second best for the rest of the half.[LNB]"We just started lashing at the ball and that was disappointing because if you don't have composure you don't win games.[LNB]"It's easy to say that we should have come here and got a result after beating Sheffield United last week but that would be disrespectful to Doncaster.[LNB]"They are the form team in the division at present. They pass the ball very well and play with a lot of confidence. Sometimes you have to give the opposition credit, however hard it is to say that."[LNB][LNB]
