Sharp surgery leaves Rovers short

Doncaster will be without leading goalscorer Billy Sharp at Nottingham Forest. The 16-goal striker will undergo surgery to resolve a long-standing hernia problem and could miss the rest of the season, although he aims to be back for the final month. Fellow forward James Hayter made a timely return in the midweek draw with Coventry, grabbing a late equaliser after being out since early February with a calf injury and he should start again, with Dean Shiels in contention to step in for Sharp. Midfielders John Oster (calf) and Paul Keegan (knee) and on-loan Southampton defender Joe Mills (foot) all missed out on Tuesday night but could return to the squad. On-loan goalkeeper Ben Alnwick is expected to start on the bench again as back-up for Gary Woods following his recent arrival from Tottenham. Number one Neil Sullivan is still struggling with a shin problem and defenders James Chambers (hamstring), James O'Connor (foot) and Mustapha Dumbuya (knee) remain out.
