"I've been missing playing and I'm eager to get back," he told the Sheffield Star. "It was frustrating towards the back end of last season when I didn't get any games when I came back from injury.
"I worked hard and I thought that I could get back into the team for this season, but it wasn't to be. I felt that I needed a new challenge and I'm looking forward to getting it here."
Sharp, a lifelong Blades fan, signed for Rovers on transfer deadline day but has not ruled out a permanent return to Bramall Lane.
"I want to get playing football again on a regular basis and we'll see what happens from there," he said.
