Saunders makes his first summer signing

Name: David Thomas Syers

D.O.B: 30/11/1987

P.O.B: Leeds, England

Playing Position: Midfielder

Dean Saunders has made his first signing towards the Rovers squad for next season in the form of 24 year old ex-Bradford City midfielder David Syers. He arrives at Rovers on a free transfer, signing a 2 year deal after his contract at Bradford expired.

Syers went on trial to League Two Bradford in July 2010 signing on non-contract terms on 10 August 2010, just before making his professional debut the same day scoring the opening goal that helped City to an eventual 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest. He was given The Bantams Player's Player of the Year award in May 2011. In total, Syers played 59 games for Bradford, scoring 12 goals.

He has been reported as saying that Rovers is "an unbelievable club and Dean [Saunders] really sold it to me - after meeting him it was a case of when I can sign and not if"

Overall, it looks luke David Syers is going to be a fantastic addition to the Rovers midfield for the 2012/13 League One campaign.

Up the Rovers!!
