Doncaster Rovers new loan signing Matthew Kilgallon is in line to make his debut in today's home game against in-form Reading at the Keepmoat Stadium. The Sunderland centre-back, who joined Rovers on a loan deal until the end of the season on Wednesday afternoon, trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Thursday. He will find out today what part, if any, he will play against the Royals. The former Leeds and Sheffield United ace joined Middlesbrough, on what was scheduled to be a season-long loan in August, but played just two games for the Riverside club due to a back problem. The 27 year-old has been back in training for around a month and has suffered no adverse reaction and is hopeful that his problems are behind him.Despite his lack of match fitness, the former England Under-21 international says that he is ready to heed the call if Rovers' boss Sean O'Driscoll opts to start him in tomorrow's game.Although several clubs were reportedly interested in taking Kilgallon on loan, he says he always wanted to join Rovers. He said he even told his agent to approach the club."It's relatively close to my Harrogate home and I think that the club are heading in the right direction and hopefully I can help them," he said."I want to enjoy my football again and the lads I knew here spoke really highly about the club and were texting me about it so I thought Doncaster was the place. "It's been a difficult year at Sunderland. I wasn't used to not playing (regularly) but when I went there I played a game and then I was out of the team or on the bench. I had some enjoyable times but nothing beats playing."Asked about the possibility of the move becoming permanent, Kilgallon said: "Football is a funny thing; you never know what will happen."The main thing is to help Donny and hopefully help get them into a play-off position."The club is only five points off the play-offs with a game in hand and were unlucky not to beat Sheffield United in their last league game."I had hoped to be playing in that game but it took a lot longer than I thought to complete the deal.""It's a tough league but I can't see why the club can't get into the play-offs."Kilgallon made his name as a cultured defender and feels he will fit in with Rovers' style of play."I'm comfortable on the ball at my feet and if there is space and time and I'll try and play," he said. "But I've got to defend because I get paid to defend."The team have been leaking a few goals recently and I'm here to try and tighten that up.MPUMinCharsCutOff:210 PageLength:2435MPUPositionFromStart:250 MPUPositionRange:1000hasVideoOrImage:False--->
