Rovers hoping to blunt the Blades

Doncaster Rovers will go into one of their biggest games of the season tomorrow without leading scorer Billy Sharp As was the case when Rovers played derby rivals Sheffield United at Bramall Lane earlier in the season, Sharp will sit out the game against his parent club as result of a "gentleman's agreement".No doubt United boss Kevin Blackwell, even though Sharp couldn't hold down a regular spot in his team last season, will be glad that his £2m striker isn't playing. For the man that he is prepared to sell on if the price is right, has rediscovered the form he showed at Scunthorpe earlier in his career when his scoring exploits prompted the Blades to splash out a seven-figure fee to bring him back to the Lane. Following a slow start to his season-long loan spell at Doncaster - when he was overshadowed by youngster Waide Fairhurst early on - Sharp has blossomed into one of the most feared strikers in the Championship and is well in contention to finish top scorer.Rovers style of play is arguably more suited to Sharp's game than United's under Blackwell, and he has grabbed the chance to shine away from Bramall Lane and looks to be on course to top the 20-goal mark this season.Sharp's goals have played a major role in Rovers not only being able to consolidate their position in the Championship, in the notoriously difficult second season following promotion, but have also taken them to within four points of sixth-placed Cardiff City. But it is not only Sharp's work on the ball which has caught the eye.He has bought into the work ethic at the club and gets through a tremendous amount of work in defence. Not surprisingly, the fans want Sharp to stay on at the club and have launched a fund to help the directors financially if the opportunity arose
