The 23-year-old former Leeds trainee has suffered several setbacks in his recovery from a dislocated knee and had played his last game at Leyton Orient in April 2008 before ending his exile with a late substitutes' appearance in the midweek home defeat to Middlesbrough.[LNB]McDaid told the club's official website: "It's been a long time coming but I'm glad I've got an appearance in the Championship finally under my belt. It's been a hard 18-20 months.[LNB]"I'm delighted to get back on the pitch. Half of them probably didn't know who I was to be honest, it's been that long so I didn't know what kind of reception I'd get.[LNB]"But when I was warming up a lot of fans gave me a standing ovation and that's something that will always stay with me and I thank the fans for that because sometimes when you've been out for so long you don't know if they'll stick by you whatever.[LNB]"It was the worst time of my life. I've never experienced anything like it. It was 18-20 months, I've had three operations and got back twice and had setbacks and there were times when I wondered if I'd ever get back."[LNB][LNB]
