Doncaster Rovers are one of several clubs interested in signing Manchester United starlet Nick Powell on loan.

Hot prospect Powell made just six first team appearances for the Premier League champions last season following his big money move from Crewe Alexandra and looks set to be allowed to leave Old Trafford on a temporary basis.

The striker turned midfielder is the calibre of player boss Paul Dickov is working desperately hard behind the scenes to bring to the Keepmoat Stadium - as Rovers’ boss aims to put his contacts with some of England’s top clubs to good use.

Dickov will have his work cut out persuading David Moyes that the best move for Powell is to Rovers - although the prospect of guaranteed first team football week in week out would appeal to United.

The highly-rated teenager will have no shortage of offers this summer and several Premier League and Championship sides are queuing up to take the 19-year-old on a long-term loan - something United see as crucial to his long term development.

Powell scored just 11 minutes into his United debut against Wigan but had to be content with a regular starting spot for the club’s under-21 side last season.
