Doncaster have completed the signing of centre-back Wayne Thomas on an initial one-year-deal. The 31-year-old has been on trial with Rovers and impressed manager Sean O'Driscoll during pre-season games against West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday. Thomas began his career with Torquay before moving to Stoke, where he featured 189 times in five years. He moved to Burnley in 2005 before returning to the south coast with Southampton, spending three seasons there before being released at the end of the last campaign. On his switch to the Keepmoat, Thomas said: "I think they were interested in me last season and my mate from Southampton Simon Gillett said it's a great team to play in with the type of football Sean O'Driscoll plays. "I came up and trained with the lads plus played in the the two home friendlies and knew I could play here. Its been a bit on and off as to whether I would sign but I am here now and looking forward to bring my experience to the side."
