Jon Parkin has been ruled out of Preston North End's opening match of the season against Doncaster Rovers. The 28-year old tweaked his hamstring in training and manager Darren Ferguson wants to rest the forward to avoid further injury. Ferguson told the BBC Radio Lancashire: "He has just got a little tweak in the hamstring and he won't be fit for it. "It is not a tear but when you come back at the tempo and intensity as he has, you have to be careful." Parkin played the first half against Bamber Bridge in his only pre-season appearance for Preston
