Oldham's Mvoto is target for Dickov

Paul Dickov is targeting Oldham Athletic defender Jean-Yves Mvoto - but faces competition for Latics old boy Lee Croft.

Powerhouse defender Mvoto made a big impression on Dickov during his time at Boundary Park and Rovers’ new boss is hoping to persuade the giant Frenchman to join him at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Meanwhile, Millwall have emerged as rivals for Croft’s signature and look set to push through a deal for the winger if Steve Lomas takes the Den hot seat.

Mvoto, 24, is currently weighing up a new contract offer from his current employers who are desperate to hold onto him.

Oldham boss Lee Johnson has admitted that other clubs are interested in the former Paris St Germain and Sunderland centre half, who has previously stated he would be happy to remain at the League One outfit.

But the lure of moving up a division with Doncaster, and being reunited with his former boss, could prove to be too tempting for Mvoto.

After inheriting a squad short on recognised centre backs, Dickov is keen to strengthen his options in that position and Mvoto is thought to be one of his prime targets
