O'Driscoll welcomes Brooker availability

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll is looking forward to having striker Steve Brooker back in his squad this season. The 29-year-old did not play at all during the last campaign because of a knee injury but has taken part in Rovers' pre-season campaign. He played the full second half of Saturday's win over Sheffield Wednesday and O'Driscoll is hopeful of using him in the season-opener against Preston. "He has been out for a long time and getting fit is an uphill struggle and getting match-fit is also an uphill task," he told his club's official website. "You want him there or thereabouts for the opening game of the season because he will have an influence. "Even if it's from the bench, you know you can throw him on and that he can get a goal for you and that is what we want."
