O'Connor out for rest of season

The 24-year-old former Bournemouth man has not figured for Sean O'Driscoll's men since suffering the injury in their 3-1 defeat at Swansea on February 21. O'Connor has been having injections on his ankle to try and remedy the problem, but has now undergone surgery which rules him out of his side's remaining five games. "He is in the very early days of his recovery at the moment," club physio John Dickens told his club's official website. "We had no option than to have the operation done now. It was a tidy-up job and he will be out for a few weeks. After that everything should be fine." Rovers have already lost captain Brian Stock and striker James Coppinger for the rest of the campaign as they aim to secure their Championship survival.
