Luggy hits out at lacklustre Argyle

Goals from John Spicer, substitute James Hayter and 10-goal top scorer Paul Heffernan secured Rovers' a comfortable victory that plunged the Pilgrims back into the relegation scrap. Sturrock said: "How do you legislate for that? A week ago in our last home game we beat Coventry here 4-0. The difference is that today we went out there and waited for it to happen rather than making it happen. "I like to think I am a fair manager and will hold my hand up if I think I have contributed, mistake-wise, in the build-up to a game or whatever. Not today. "The build-up to this game was no different to the last three unbeaten games. "What really irks me is that we can be so different in our approach one week from the next. "Now we have our work cut out again." Argyle have not won after conceding the opening goal this season and they found themselves on the back foot from the 15th minute, when Spicer struck with a superb diagonal shot from the right side of the penalty box following Heffernan's inch perfect deep cross from the left. Rovers went further ahead despite losing midfielder Mark Wilson (calf) to injury. His replacement, striker Hayter, was left unmarked and in space as he headed Rovers 2-0 ahead from six yards out in the 33rd minute from left-back Gareth Roberts' cross. Two minutes later Argyle could have reduced the deficit but experienced Rovers keeper Neil Sullivan made a brilliant save to turn away Marcel Seip's powerful downward header from Paul Gallagher's free-kick from the right. In first half stoppage time left-back Gary Sawyer was first to the ball as it broke following a goalmouth scramble, from Gallagher's corner, but his shot flew just over the bar. Rovers made it 3-0 in 70th minute when foraging defender James Chambers teed up Heffernan and he made no mistake from close range for his 10th goal of the season. Rovers' modest boss Sean O'Driscoll said: "We have not looked at the league table all season, we have concentrated on performances so I don't think we are going to change now. "We went to Ipswich and beat them 3-1 but it was a different type of game, but we were excellent then but fell below the standards when we lost to Preston on Monday but this was back to nicely organised. "In this division you need to be organised, just passing the ball does not get you what you want to get, so we learnt from the Preston game. We have done that all season. "Every game - won, drawn or lost - we think we can do this better or that better. I thought we were excellent."
