Fairhurst fired Rovers ahead at West Brom in midweek but revealed the gloss had been taken off his first goal for the club by the defeat. He was making his first start due to the absence of James Hayter, Paul Heffernan, Lewis Guy and James Coppinger. He said: "(The goal) was after good movement from Bill (Billy Sharp), he put it on a plate for me to be fair. "It was a great feeling to put us a goal up. It's a pity about the result. I was glad to score my first goal for the club, don't get me wrong. Hopefully we will go one better on Saturday." He added: "I was a bit nervous but hopefully I've done all right for the team. It's a pity about the result but hopefully we will react to that with a win against Ipswich on Saturday."
